During my career I had to lead meetings with colleagues and presentations with clients.

Having sat through many monotonous and mind numbing meetings myself I lived in dread of being a boring speaker.

Joining a Speakers Club seemed like an obvious solution – and it was!

I quickly learnt that it wasn’t what you said but how you said it.

That pauses are as powerful as words.

And that although your nerves never completely disappear you can control them, so you appear cool, calm and collected.

Three years ago I moved house and my career took a different path but I still joined Sutton Coldfield Speakers Club.

It’s still a learning experience.

It’s still fun and sociable.

And as communication is vital for everyone at every stage of life it’s still relevant.

As the Business Development Manager and Social Media Manager, I’m grateful for the opportunity to help our club reach new audiences, build meaningful connections, and inspire others to discover their own potential.

Each of our meetings provides an inspiring environment where members can express themselves, gain confidence, and develop new skills. Witnessing this growth firsthand is incredibly rewarding.

Sutton Speakers Club is not just a platform for improving public speaking; it also provides members with support, builds their confidence, and fosters a strong sense of community. I’m grateful to be part of a community where people can learn, connect, and thrive together.
